    AKMSL Build

So I got a call from Two Rivers that my rifle is on its way back, so obviously there will be more pics to come, but I thought Id start with my repro stock strut because there doesn't seem to be any reviews here even though I know of at least one other member who has one. Ever since I got my Polski NSP-3 from Apex several years ago, I wanted a rifle to go with it, I could have chosen a AKMN and been done, but that would have been too easy. I missed out on the handful of APEX kits, probably would have been hesitant to spend that on a kit anyway, and passed on several stock struts or partial kits on GB over the years for various reasons. I finally decided to roll the dice on a repro strut, there is a guy who sells them on the files and ebay if you look. The package is pretty much a NOS rail, with a repro strut and the couple of unique bits that go with it.

Heres how it came from Poland, cardboard folded into an envelope, but all parts were wrapped int he same paper you would expect from NOS parts, if you got an Armorers Kit from Apex or SG years back you know what Im talking about.
Here's the strut, sorry for the cell phone pics, when I took these in Jan I didnt think about using them for a write up in the future. I also wish I had a real one to compare it to, but Ive never seen or handled one in the flesh.

Outside is smooth and looks like it was stamped, inside not so much. Not sure if it was stamped and then they went back to remove material for weight or what, but its still pretty hefty. The lone rivet at the receiver end is for show, the two at the butt end appear to be functional.

Here's one with the rail, virgin and lacks any serial numbers so you could potentially add your own and force match your scope to your rifle. The staking pins were also included and were in another paper wrap.

Somewhat mocked up, the package came with a sling loop that is unique to the AKMSN and a center support pin.

Thats it for now, hope to be able to post pics of the finished rifle by Sat.

First thanks to Two Rivers did who the build. Started out as an unfired 1987 Polish AKMS kit, probably should have looked for something earlier since the scope's log says it was zeroed in 79, but oh well. Two Rivers did the engraving on the rail to match the serno on the trunnion and NSP-3, the font and size look spot on. One of those new polish barrels and Childers receiver round it out. Two Rivers-You have any thing to add about using these NOS rails and repro strut arms?

Thanks, I'm super happy with it. I could be picky about things like the NSP was was originally mated to an AKM, and the tin reflects that, and the kit's late year, but Im probably the only AK guy that will ever see it, and I know like 4 other guys that might see it and they barley would be able to tell this from a WASR. Might throw some ruski wood on it later for some pics, but I want to keep the package Polish.

Very cool! Matching the scope numbers to the rail was a nice touch.

Will you be re-stenciling the numbers on the transit case to match as well?

Dont think so, its in really good shape and Id like to keep it original for now. I can always do it later, but would never be able to undo it.

Very nice, I always enjoy it when someone pays attention to the details. I did something very similar last year with a 1958 dated Kbk-n and a Polish NSP2 set I sourced from Poland.

Hey Wingnut, the repro stock arm is actually pretty nice although like you pointed out the inside is kind rough. The only thing to it is making the rivet with no dimensions to work with but I think it came together pretty nice. The rail seems to be pretty good too and an overall nice piece. Thanks for the work and glad you like the rifle, that a nice set up you have, and that chair is pretty sick!

I saw this on reddit, really good job on this. Those folder arms are sick, the buy did a great job on those and the rails.

I thought about doing a Russian one but I already have the polish kit to build. On the scope date, I think they were made close to the same time frame. ill check mine.
    WTB/WTT:
    Rare/unique original barrel kits
    Russian Barrels
    East German Barrels
I have rare parts/kits and plenty original Russian paint to trade.

I want to say the rail is legit NOS, just the strut and accompanying pieces are repro.
