3K for a US made SVD? For a little more I could order a Swiss Sig 553, decisions will have to be made.

They will have excellent bores, I've seen them and if they are shot out, FEG will service and replace it with the CHF barrels with upgraded twisting we were playing around with to play nicely with match grade ammo that is used like the Norma and Lapua and also US hunting ammo. they will have the 1:9.4 in twist rate.

I know for a fact and I saw the symbols on the barrels that sometime in the early 80's, the new 1:9.4 in twist rate was changed on the 60's one we have.

I've talked to the FEG engineer about a .308 version and he kinda growled at me and I had to leave his office. I am guessing he is not in a happy mood so I'll stop bothering him.

I foresee it happening as I see the SVD .308 magazines we have made in a previous project. I will find it in the junk bin as I am still building up the FEG firearms museum and what to save and what to keep.

    Hold on...dude...

This really depends on the ATF decision on barrels.

I put forth that these are Hunting sporting rifles and not military. Now if they say YES...then FUCK yeah.. they come in with no issues and then in the states they can be drilled..... Hell fucken drilled for a suppressor also.

    But if they say NO.....

then we need to find a US maker and if I remember correctly for a group buy done years ago for people wanting a SVD 24.4 inch barrel for their TIGRs and Chinese SVD's, it was 1500 each . I can't find the thread but its somewhere.
Now...if yes.. than quite easily less than 2200.
if no than more than 2200.

Tor Tort, ETAd that the receiver cloning for 100 of them will be a price of about 600 USD each at his estimate.

are you sure he's not a TIGR

Heheh...anyway.. would it be possible to get super detailed scans of the 54R SVD mags so they could be 3D printed? Or at least have the exact dimensions so folks can plug the info into a CNC machine or something?

I can do that on Wednesday at the office.

We have the drawing and specs from Dragunov the 3rd himself.

Is there any reason that the SVD receiver can't be imported? As I understand, the SVD doesn't have a sear cut receiver like the M76 and PSL, it's all in the trigger pack. If it's been in Hungary for 40-50 years wouldn't it be considered "Hungarian" by this point? Import the barrel-less receiver and then put the barrel on here in the USA?
WANTED- gas tube numbered "NO 1426" ,recoil assembly numbered 1426. Any parts matching DE2226

SVDs can't be imported period from Russia itself.

    Period.

Russia signed a voluntary agreement not to...
But everyone knows Yeltsin signed it because Clinton said so and then they wouldn't get their IMF loan

Very excited about the first two options! It is interesting that FEG produced an SVD 1998 to 2002. Would love to see how these differed from the Soviet made rifles.

1 batch of SVD made from 1998 to 2002 which are possibly FEG made receivers and FEG made barrels and furniture.

    And 1 batch in 2020 late ..

That will be US made receivers with FEG parts kits.

Rifles will have the flashhiders taken off for import laws.
    But can be reinstalled.

Antique 1st batch is C and R qualified and we are told flashhiders and bayonet lugs can stay.

2nd batch still possible CR also..

Nothing is different from my observations and looking at them.

I see that the receivers are Soviet.

My theory is that they were just parts and it was assembled and built.

I don't see a year on it and there is nothing else other than armory stampings.

My handlers are already pissed at me.

I made an entire video of the production and also the warehouse of parts we have and they shot it down on sharing it.

For the SVD, it's just a sterilized SVD with a nice finish and also the polymer furniture.

I saw some ssg3000 and also some Sako trg22 and 21 and other rifles that the Hungarian army wanted and they fielded and tested but I guess they stuck with the SVD and they are still are sticking with it.
I saw a request for KAC rifles but they couldn't get the price down. I emailed KAC wondering what happened...
    Anyways.
It's just a drop dead gorgeous rifle but I think they created it for a biathlon.

I carried it and walked around the FEG plant and it's far fucken easier to carry than an ar10 or FAL or even a g3.

good god....I want this in the US for us collectors....

    Sooooo bad....

I would suggest determining the numbers of rifles available for import through options 1 and 2 before investing any $ in option 3.
LOOKING FOR: Postban Chicom (squareback) Rifle, '65 EG MPi-KM kit, Soviet and East German AKM Barrels, Soviet AKM U/F Stock Assembly, Polish Milled Receiver Front Stub
