Question about the Chinese Mak-90 receiver tangs

Howdy! Got a Mak-90 on Layaway with a straight cut receiver. It does have the thumbhole stock so I'm looking into replacing it very soon. I know that the receiver walls are thicker than on standard AKs so a bit of dremel work may be needed. Question is, is there any differences with the receiver tang compared to the others?

    Thanks!

no the tang should be the same. just use a wood rasp or, maybe your dremel. On your new butt stock.

Awesome, so the tang holes should be the same but the receiver and the tang itself would require the stock to be fitted? If so, thank y'all so much!

You can also jut buy an original chinese akm stock set that should be a lot closer fit.

NOPE !!... The tang holes are spaced farther apart than Euro. pattern AKs. You will have to fill the stock hole that doesn't line up and also extend the slot in the stock that the tang recesses into since the chinese stock tangs are longer as well. Fitting AKM pattern furinture to a chinese can be done but takes a bit of effort with a file and Dremel. You will have to file the tenon (that fits into the receiver) EQUALLY on each side until it fits correctly. Save the sawdust...

Dremel the slot in the stock at the rounded portion at the rear of the slot to extend it until it will accept the tang & fit in the receiver (remember to leave a gap of 1mm between the stock and edge of receiver). This gap prevents cracking of the stock. You want it there.

Take the sawdust from when you filed the stock to fit and mix that with some Devcon 2-ton clear epoxy from the local hardware store. Should be about the consistency of oatmeal/peanut butter. Use this mix to fill the existing screw hole in the stock that doesn't line up with the hole in the chinese tang. Trial fit your stock after it dries and mark for the new hole & drill it. Touch up stock where you had to file/dremel or refinish the entire stock.

OR... You can pony up the coin for an actual chineses buttstock and skip most/all the above steps I listed (though you may have to drill the pilot holes for the stock screws if the chinese stock you get is unissued). Hope this helps...
