    Inherited an SLR 95

Hello everyone. I am a complete amature when it comes to gun ownership. I am a first time gun owner as my dad (who was a gun enthusiast) recently passed away. I inherited a Arsenal SLR 95 7.62 x 39 AK. To my knowledge it is fully automatic, not quite sure though. Here in the US I was reading that there are bans put into place on certain full auto rifles.
1.) Is this gun legal in the US / Indiana
2.) How do I go about making this gun legal and/or finding if it is possible to register the gun under my name.

Thank you everyone for your help, any additional resources on gun education for new owners is welcome, I inherited a total of 8 guns.

It’s not full auto bud. It’s a semiautomatic rifle that accepts high capacity magazines. You may get yourself in a situation saying that, plus it’s not even true. Just FYI.

Post a picture of the receiver and we can confirm that it’s a semi auto for you, which I’m 99.99% sure it is. Sorry to hear about your dad though, mine’s getting up there in age and I worry as well. Welcome to the forum.

Your rifle is not full-auto capable and is totally legal for you to own in Indiana and most other states. As far as I am aware Indiana has no registration or other requirements for rifles (only a handful of blue states such as NY, MA, CA, NJ and a few others do).

You are good to go and enjoy a great rifle!

That’s semiautomatic, shoots once each pull of the trigger. The S and F on the receiver stands for Safe and Fire.

It depends on who you ask - a Democrat would tell you its fully semi-automatic and should be banned
