    Do I have a problem?

Kinda new to the Ak world. I have a Saiga that I converted myself,7.62x39.
My question is, When I charge the rifle, it strips a round off the mag, like its supposed to,and run likes a charm, I have fired about 200 rounds thru it after the conversion.

However If I stop firing mid way thru the mag , and try to eject the live round thats in the chamber , it is almost impossible to pull the bolt back.

I usually end up pulling the mag and finding something to bump the bolt back with, ejecting the live round. Is an Ak supposed to lock up this tight?

If I just shoot until my mag is dry there are no prblems.
So...do I have a problem or is this normal for an Ak?
    Thanks !

What's it feel like hand cycling without a round in the chamber and without a magazine in place? With empty chamber and with an empty magazine?

While handcycling without a round in the chamber and no mag in place it is fine. not stiff at all. It only gets tight when there is a round in the chamber.

While firing there arent any problems either, I have never had a fail to go into battery or eject a round.

I thought at first it might be a sticky chamber, maybe a build up of laquer from the wolf ammo. But I polished the chamber as recommended, and then tried some brass case ammo thu it. It is stll very stiff when a round is chambered.

What about hand cycling with chamber empty and empty magazine in place? Just trying to eliminate the magaine or its position in this. Did you try it with more than one magazine?

It cycles fine without a round in the chamber. I have also tried different mags.
With a round in the chamber it is very hard to draw back the bolt to eject it out, even with the mag removed. Other than that , when firing it functions perfectly with any mag or ammo I feed it.

Are there any marks on the unfired rounds you have gotten out of the chamber? Can you get a look into the chamber?

As far as I can see chamber looks good.
Looking at a round now, it has one very, very light scratch down the side and a slight burr on the neck, just below the projectile. Fire rounds don't show any signs of bulging or anything either.

Have you checked the headspace on this rifle? Dimes to dollars says that it is too tight...

No I havent, will have to get some gauges I guess. Is there any danger shooting it if the headspace is to tight?. Thats my main concern at this point
