PUFGUN vs. A.C. Unity Mags Part 1

I told y'all I would check these out and let you know what I found. Well here you go...

First these are the testing rifles:

From top to bottom they are a Polish Circle 10 built to a Khyber Pass on a NDS-1KP receiver, a Vector Arms Bulgarian underfolder, an SLR-100H Milled Hungarian, and a contractor WASR-10 from Iraq.

The magazines are PUFGUNS 30 round AK mags:

The mags are supposedly fiberglass reinforced. They have a good heft to them and the follower is plastic. The mags locked up well in all four of my rifles except the WASR-10. THe mag was very loose in the magwell but still locked up. Also by locking up well I mean I picked the rifle up by the mag, held it upside down, and shook it

bought some ac unity 7.62x39 30s and 40s from classic last sale, week ago or so. Unfortunately neither fit into my bulgy or polish AKMs or AK-47s. i'm sure fitting could fix that but still a little dissapointed, was hoping plug-n-play. but considering price i don't complaint too much.
probably will pickup their windowed 5.45s from rtg too, soon. probably cheapest 5.45 mags with metal lugs out there.

btw any of you know if lugs on them aluminum? they look suspiciously non-steel like, magnet doesn't stic. not sure if it's non-magnetic stainless (hoping). anybody knows for sure? don't wanna test them with the grinder. mags cheap but ruining things it is not in my nature. hopefully somebody knows the answer.

I believe that I read somewhere that Cold Blue would blue stainless steel and not aluminum. Maybe dip a q tip into liquid cold blue and dab it on the lug ?

Ain't got any, but I'll look around.

I've got them loaded for stress testing the springs and hopefully this weekend I'll be at the range with them.

My only experience with either was their quadstack offerings.

The Pufgun quadstack 5.45 magazine was okay, nothing great. Had a lot of flex on the body, but I didn't have it long, as I sold my AK74.

The AC-Unity quadstack 7.62 magazine, on the other hand, has been a phenomenal addition to my kit since I upgraded to the steel reinforced followers, and after 800rds through my test model, it is still working nearly flawlessly.

The one malfunction I had, I wasn't able to guarantee that it was the mag or the ammo itself.

i got som acu mags and they don't fit in any of my 7.62 aks. i have polish bulgarian russian milled and stamped. so i'm a little annoyed. but for the money i shouldn't complain. just ordered acu 5.45 from rtg, those due to arrive soon, hopefully i will have better luck with them. they show pics of those mags on the bulgarian and polish guns, so i'm cautiously optimistic. 5.45 are most expensive of the bunch, so i only got three to try.
