    Aluminum 7.62 Follower?

okay... bad picture, I know... It just looks like a normal Russian 7.62 mag follower, but it's aluminum. I've just never encountered one. Maybe it's supposed to go with an aluminum waffle mag?? I don't know. Anyone in the know about these?

A lot of Tula Bakelite mags have Aluminum followers. Have had maybe 50 with Al followers come past me in the last few years.

Yeah, I was going to say that I thought some of the bakelite mags had them as well. Not sure if I even have any of those anymore. The aluminum waffles for sure.

Lots of the under-the-radar mag imports from Russia were (are) disassembled magazines shipped in separate packages to elude customs agents.

The Bakes and Aluminum mags were (are) available from the same sellers. I wonder if any Bakes were assembled at the factory with aluminum followers, or if they just had their internals scrambled somewhere along the route.

Way too many aluminum followers in AG4 mags to be just be assembly errors. MY theory (WAG) is that when steel was added to the feed lips - they experienced problems with steel followers getting rusted solid/fixed to the steel re-inforcements in the feed-lips. If you have owned a bunch that did not come in disassembled - you should have seen this. I certainly have many times. Aluminum Followers would have fixed this problem.
