    East German 5.45x39 Ammunition

Has anybody seen East German 5.45x39 ammunition for sale? I am trying to locate some and have not seen any for awhile.

What is available here in the US is rare AK74 part kits and rarer E German barrels. If i remember correctly i saw one for sale in my many years of collecting on a US receiver and went for $5000 fast. It had one of the sought after receiver can't remember the name that you wait 2 years to get. Everything else was E German including the barrel

But are you a drug against war? That's the important question.

True there, my version of a drug against war is to buy as many guns and ammunition as possible to keep the availability low for other less well intentioned people.

I have only seen pictures of the ammo, I have several EG training rounds in 5.45. Black top with metal base , like the 7.62 & mak eg training rounds..I know of a few collectors who have 8mm kurz EG training rounds
I do know in the early 90's the green party insisted that existing ammo was to be destroyed, there is or was a large article on the recycling of the powder.

don't you feel safer that they destroyed all that ammo

I'm a pretty hard core EG collector since 1990 - I have yet to lay my eyes on a live round of EG made 5.45x39 in the US. During the time that it could have been imported there were no common 5.45x39 firearms in the US.

During unification 7.62x39 M43 was exported to the US in quantity - and CHEAP - that is until the unified German government decided to virtue signal by no longer selling ammo to civilian exporters. What they could not sell or give away to friendly countries they ended up demilling the ammo and turning it into fertilizer. Same mentality destroyed many EG firearms.

FWIW I've only seen a few rounds of EG 9x18 over the years - mild steel core.

I do have a crate that held some at one time.

I was just lucky enough to pick up 400 rounds of the Original Soviet 5.45x39 for $40 delivered from a auction house

    as pictured above

I recalled this was the ammo that came in with SSG sniper rifles, if fact I believe this is special ammo specifically for this rifle, not common fodder for the military I thought the bases are marked differently, instead of the common 4 & 5 marked bases

MKikm-72 I got box and its full of EG Mak

Even when 5.45 was plentiful. The East German wasn't seen very often.
