    Romanian 8mm Question

I found some Romanian 8mm packed on stripper clips last weekend, but instead of the usual steel cased stuff, this was brass cased. I've been collecting and shooting this caliber for well over 20 years, and this is the first time I've seen this stuff. Does anyone else have any of this, or at least seen it anywhere? Pics later today.

Here are the pics. These come well packed in wrapped and tied packages of 20 rounds on stripper clips, and the head stamp is 21 RPR 55 which I take to mean State factory lot 21 made in 1955, but that's a guess on my part. If anyone has any info on this stuff at all, please let me know, because I have not only never seen Romanian brass cased 8mm before, I've never even seen pictures, or read anything about it.

It's brass. I picked some up at a gunshow late 90's early 2000's along with some WW2 German and Israeli 8mm. I casually collect different military ammo. I still have the German but I think I shot all the Romanian and most of the Israeli (dumb), but at least I can reload the Israeli as it's boxer primed.

All my 8mm rifles are bolt guns and I don't remember having any issues with the Romanian it like click bangs, case splits etc. Nothing like that hot Turkish ammo.

    Cool find.

Thanks. This stuff must really be uncommon.

Berdan primed corrosive, single hole primers.
Good ammo but sometimes a few degraded primers.
    Might depend on storage condition.
    It is accurate.
I think AIM sold some like 10 years ago.

I remember seeing a video on YouTube about them. They are slightly shorter then the regular 8mm ammo (read German). Unknown reasons for the length discrepancy.

I had some years back. Don’t remember how far back. Pull a bullet and check. I think it’s 154gr. Light ball. It shot well. I only used it in a Gew 98.

Shot 10 rounds last week, and had 2 duds out of 10...not good. Will try again with a different rifle.
