I've seen alot of people talking about the different types of Russian 7.62x39 ammo. And it seems like Golden Tiger and Brown Bear are preferable to Wolf. But how do the three types really compare?

I just bought a spam can (700rds) of Brown Bear 7.62x39 this weekend for just over $100. I'm loving Brown Bear at that price.

For my 5.56x45 (AR) I prefer Guatemalan MilSurp or Golden Bear, either shoot very tight groups out of my 20" AR15.

I think everyone probably shoots whatever is cheap, I know I do. Its just a side benefit that some of the cheap stuff shoots amazingly well out of my rifle. Try a few of each out of your rifle and pick what shoots well with your setup.

All about the same. Not a lot of differance in the commercial Russian 7.62 ammo.
That has not been my experience. Barnaul (Brown Bear) is better than Wolf. When I say "better", I mean better accuracy and better reliability. I have never experienced a failure to fire with Barnaul ammo. I can't say the same thing about Uly and Tula ammo.

Most people have different experiances with all types of ammo. I have read of complaints regarding all of it. There were FTFs with Wolf MC being reported shortly after it went on sale, now I have not seen one in a couple months. But I bet somewhere there is still a complaint with it. As always, different batches produce different results with different rifles.

I seem to like the G. Tiger best for some reason, maybe because I know its produced on the newest machinery in Russia. But it doesnt do anything different for me than Barnaul.

It isn't opened yet, because I haven't built an AK in 7.62 yet, lol. I bought the last one on the shelf at a local place (Outdoor America), I want to say it was $110/700rds. It was in a box but when I opened it up to check it out, there was a spam can inside, so I didn't go any further, though I did snap one pic. pic here
