'Bubba' Pics up. Here's to you Mr Bubba AK Builder!

I was asked to check out & ensure safe operation of an M70 that another FFL took in trade.

Well, it's not safe. Headspace is .040" beyond NO GO. Soot & corrosion on the bolt & trunion show evidence of case separation.

I'm suprised it may feed without the selector stop, but since Bub cut down the mag catch with a dremel wheel, it's not too high or tight, just sloppy in an up & down kind of way. Strangley, it is a Rapid Fire M70 without the trigger guard hump. Either ORF doesn't machine them w/ the hump any more or Bubba removed it. You should shorten your rivets when leaving out the selector stop.

Barrel pin hole must have been drilled with a hand drill, because one side is an oval, going from 7mm to 9mm.

The clincher is the milled barrel, turned down to .894" where the threads used to be. It was hard to measure accurately with all the JB Weld still stuck to the barrel. But hey, when you make a .012" mistake, JBW must make sense. Knurling sure wouldn't have worked & I'm surprised you didn't prick the hell out of the barrel with a punch, like you do when you spin a wheel bearing on the F150 spindle.
JB Weld Also, major RSB Hammer work!

    More JB Weld

Does Bubba know what compliance parts are? Apparently not, but he does know about 5mm e-rings. Either that, or Bubba's intent was to deceive someone with this 'custom build' & keep his G2 for another 'build'.

Hammer marks on the RSB & muzzle crown set apart the BFH crowd from the serious gunsmiths. Thanks to Bub's skilled use of force, the gas tube required you to pry it off with a screwdriver, chipping the lower wood. But, you got the muzzle brake on anyway.
    Muzzle damage

I will say, Bubba does a good job on wood. Fully assembled, it was difficult to determine the true damage done to what could have been a nice milled M70.

But that battleship gray epoxy & BBQ Black paint job(w/o removing internals or selector) is a stand-out, shocking finish.

I hope Bubba didn't take his wheel cylinder hone to the receiver, that will kill this project for me(& probably the FFL that took it on trade).
As it worked out, the barrel hole was opened up to .909", possibly with a cartridge roll. The damage was not very deep.

Here's to you, Mr Bubba AK Builder. Stick to working on things that go with beer goggles.............
