Intermixing US and foreign FCG parts

I've got an AK people are complaining about trigger slap on. Compliance isn't an issue. Can you intermingle say a Tapco FCG and the issue FCG parts and reduce slap, or do you have to change it all out? Personally I'm fine with it, but it makes my daughter reluctant to fire it too much.

Yeah you can. I reatined the Saiga hammer when I swapped out the disconnector and trigger for a G2 unit and it works perfect.

Would keeping the European trigger and using the Tapco parts do any good?

    Not really.

In any case all my builds have been with Tapco G2 FCG's and I have NEVER experienced trigger slap.

I would just replace the whole FCG with a G2 and be done with it.

I was thinking of using a foreign trigger because I don't like the look and feel of the G2 trigger, the face of it is too wide.

    What actually causes the slap?
I have a G2 FCG in a Romy G and after 900 rds I started getting trigger slap.
I've put 300 rds through it since I started noticing the trigger slap and it just seems to be getting worse.
I was actually thinking about changing out each Trigger/hammer/sear part untill I figured out which one relieved my pain. mp

If I were going to keep an original FCG part I think I would keep the hammer and swap out the trigger and disconnector, if I needed them for parts count. The original hammers seem to be heavier than the U.S. hammers which makes sense since most U.S. FCGs are MIM'ed parts. The original hammers are forged. Since the hammer probably takes the most punishment that's the part I'd like to keep original.

Compliance isn't an issue. I just wanted to keep the look and feel with the original trigger. If the spring being weak is the real issue, that's an easy fix.

If compliance isn't an issue then Cope's is selling some East German Hammers and Triggers at a fair price. I bought a couple just to keep on hand and I may use the Hammers. I don't know what flavor of AK you are working with but these East German hammers and triggers appeared to be better quality forgings than the FCG parts that came with my Romanian kits. I wish Copes had East German disconnectors to go with the other parts.
