    1978 Izzy AKSUN

    The new book,
Kalashnikov Assault Rifles and Machine Guns of the USSR and Russia
has a lot of information on the 1978 Izzy AKSU. It is imbedded in the book and has to be searched for. But it is there. Also the Google Translate app works pretty good on the book.

Took me awhile to locate most of the component listing in the book. How about the neat cleaning rod that goes in the stock. Did not know it even existed until seeing it in the book.

You can see the front end of the Izzy and the very early Tula lowers have a round cut.

This was done to fit into the Lower Handguard Retainer. It has an inner lip like on this RPK. Even though this carried over into the first Tula made rifles, as far as I can the Tula LHR did not have the lip.

You can see the circular inner cut on the left handguard, this was on the pre-1984 rifles (both Izzy & Tula)

This cut allowed for better air flow.

This is the non circular cut

These 20 round glass filled magazines seem to be associated with the Izzy AKSU rifles

Hi, I'm Myst173 and I whole heatedly approve of this message.
-Paid for by the Myst173 needs more AK variants and it would be awesome to have an Izzy krink campaign
Some of you are too young to remember this but back in my day we had so much toilet paper that we threw it into the trees of our enemies.
