Interesting, is that a standard issue item, or just for wet/marshy areas?

Rubber boots are standard issue item together with Jalas/Sievi/LaJa https://www.varusteleka.fi/fi/produc...sikengat/32830 made amphibious shoe. In winter time inside of the rubber boot is felt lining which can be removed for drying. Also rubber boots are used in cross country skiing. In boots is special place for armys ski binding SA-suksiside vaijeri.

Rubber boots might look little strange on a soldier but considering Finnish battlegrounds filled with swamps, lake´s and all that snow in winter time, rubber boots are good gear to keep soldiers going. Harsh climate can be even worse enemy than enemy itself. Russian troops noticed that during winter war the hard way. Finnish soldiers have to be able to fight against the cold and against remaining enemy who has survived the cold.

As far as I know, the M78 LMG has never been adopted to service. Since Ww2 the LMG/GPMG:s in Finnish inventory have been: 7,62 KVKK 54 (RPD), 7,62 KVKK 62(Valmet KVKK 62) and 7.62 KK PKM, what comes to infantry.

We used rubber boots, of two types, in Korea. The winter cold is comparable to Finland or Sweden.
