IWI 7.62mm NATO Magazines in an IMI/Magnum Research Galil ARM?

    Hi everyone,

First, let me thank you in advance for any insight or assistance you are able to provide.

I have a 7.62mm NATO IMI Galil imported by Magnum Research. Recently, I purchased some original 25 round magazines. They arrived in very nice shape, and were all marked IWI. There were no other distinguishing marks.

When I tried to fit them to the rifle, only one of six was able to seat and lock properly. On closer inspection, it appears that the one that seated was ever so slightly narrower than the others.

Can anyone shed some light on this phenomenon and/or provide advice on obtaining magazines that might fit?

    Many thanks,

    Bun Bun

Yes. Basically, there are three different variants of the Galil magazine in 7.62x51.

The first model which didn't last very long.

The 2nd model used for most of IMI Galil production, such as yours.

The final, current model for the IWI ACE..

    "M14" magazines (early MR)
"IMI" and date magazines (later MR; MR/AAL; AAL)
    "IWI" magazines (ACE)
