    CNC Warrior Galil Receiver Question

Had this thing for about 8 months. Just now noticing that there is no hole drilled for the bullet guide rivet and the left hand safety hole hasn't been drilled out for the wider diameter of the left side safety selector. The right side safety selector part fits, but the hole is too small for the left side selector.

    Is this normal?

No.... I have neither the tools nor the talent. It's going to be dropped off at Jeff Miller's Hillbilly Firearms in East Tennessee. It's going to be bad ass when finished, though. I'm going all out with this thing. Gonna make it as close to a period-correct military issue IDF infantry rifle as I can.

Original IDF Hebrew markings all over it
Lightening cut right side, scope mount cut left side
Not messing with original kit finish parts
Barrel will be parkerized, receiver paint over park
Barrel is a NOS Czech military contract 1:12 twist barrel
    Nice-looking wood hand guard
    Quick-Detach bi-pod
    South African buffer
New Meprolight tritium night sights (to replace the dead old ones)

I believe this kit is from the early-mid 80's rifle. Free-floating firing pin and no carry handle cut on the hand guard. Also has the later style QD bi-pod. Israeli soldiers can be seen carrying this style of rifle during their incursion into Lebanon in 1985.

Yes. There were a couple ( at least ) major print revisions on the Galil which accounts for some of the weird variations between builds. Jeff will locate the bullet guide hole correctly and will be able to ream the safety selector hole according to your kit. May I suggest adding a few bucks to your build and going with the salt bath nitriding he offers? I had him SBN my rifle and MAN, lemme tell ya....best looking Galil on the block round these parts. Tough, clean, smooooooooooooooth build.

I had him nitride my R4 build and have been very happy with the results.

Thanks for the replies. Gotta call Jeff tomorrow and see if he can fit me into his schedule.

As for the SBN, I have seen some pics of rifles that Jeff put this finish on and they do look great. However, unlike the majority of the builds I currently have lined up, I would like to keep the original finish on this one.
