Wink BigSal Goes Native [Buys USA made AK] PSA? I/O? Hess?

Guys I now own a USA made AK. I know I've been critical of these things in the past, but with the technological improvements and rave reviews on the ak-files, I decided to dip my feet in the water.

The question is who made my AK?

    Was it I/O?

    .
    .
    .

    Was it PSA?

    .
    .
    .

    Was it Hess or JRA?

    NO!

    .
    .
    .

Had my USA made AK built by Troy at InRange out of US parts (and maybe a few Hungarian and Egyptian components).

    Behold! My MAGA-Blaster:

Even though we are in a COVID-19 lock down, I will be testing it thoroughly in the next few hours.... stay tuned!

Well I'm a sucker for under folders but I'm holding out for some North Korean goodies I hear might be coming along.

CHEATER! That is not a US made AK. That's like me going "lol this Hi Point is a tack driver" and every last piece of that gun aside from the outside of the slide is hand-fitted and custom built by Ed Brown.

What US parts are in there? More than the required 922r I hope.

Lets just call this a type 88 experimental version and call it a day!

I did cheat, yes, but did you really think I was going to do anything less?
Its just a bunch of parts I had when I left california: a nodak receiver, some kind of AK-Builder barrel, tapco trigger, blue Ronin grip, Hungarian stock, Egyptian front end, I think the slant muzzle device is US as well.

Our good friends at Ronins Grips made it. It is blue-ish kind of maadi-like.

    Covid-19 Test One:

The two things that get me out of the house (shooting and Judo) are closed due to the virus. Public lands, ranges, and even my buddies place are off limits. So I decided to test the rifle and see if it can hold down a Judo-gi in a high amount of wind. I took the rifle to my basement and turned on the fan (to high). Sure enough, the rifle passed and was able to keep the gi from flying away.

I never thought I would see an American-USA product able to withstand this level of torture... but sure enough it passed!

Man someone should pass this test on to Rob Ski. Very innovative Big Sal and useful to know you've got a quality rifle you can rely to hold down the laundry during a cataclysmic apocalypse. Smart.

I bet some people on here got their panties in a wad because you said you bought an American AK. Stirring the shit is fun.

Agreed. With regard to US made AK’s: general consensus here is not saying it can’t be done, but rather saying why do it?

    Covid-19 Test Two:

As many of you know, tennis is a sport played by european dandies, women, and other affiliated weirdos. Trying to find productive use for tennis equipment even in the best of times is difficult. Low and behold, it turns out the American engineers of my rifle literally built in a button that collapses the stock... I decided to see if it would pass the "will it fit in a tennis bag" challenge.

As you can see, the rifle DID pass the test, thanks to American ingenuity and moxy!

I think after my two tests we can all put to rest the rumors that American AK's aren't up to snuff.

    Thank you.

Yeah I used to get funny looks at first showing up at the gun range with tennis racket bags but they work perfect for the folders ad they are cheaply found used.

This is unforgivable. You have to buy an Adidas track suit immediately as penance.

Being married to a Russian woman, I can tell you that is deeply offensive. Also: I will.

I went to school in Columbus. Let me list all the good things that have come out of Ohio:
