    Riley Defense AK's any good?

Was just wondering if Riley Defense AK's are good quality? Seems their price range is $600 - $800. Their specs look VERY good. Anyone have any experience with them? Much thanks in advance!

I read through some RD reviews on another forum, I'm cautiously optimistic and I really hope they succeed in making good solid rifles. I thought I read somewhere that they were making their own forged trunnions. At least the photos on Atlantic firearms looks pretty good.

This is a good series on YouTube:

I'd still buy a WASR or any Combloc over it. AMD-63/65s are only $430-450 right now.

Those AMDs are practically all US parts. Just some small parts from Hungry.

US Barrel, trigger, what else that matters? FEG parts kit, receiver, stock, grips. Just out of curiosity as I don't know.

If I'm thinking of the same rifle it's

US receiver, barrel, fire control group (possibly furniture) (possibly piston)

HUNGARIAN. Top cover, sights, trigger guard, Trunion. (possibly furniture). Bolt carrier and bolt. (Possibly piston). Lots of odds and ends like safety levers and what not

Have you seen what today's parts kits look like? No barrel. No receiver, and you still need enough US parts to be compliant.

I see what you mean. We're talking about 2 different rifles.

Regardless, i wouldn't touch those. Seems Classic got a hold of some receivers and parts kits. Like Century, they aren't known for paying for good work. I'd want to know who's barrel and who built it

I have an older one from them and its great but yes you are taking a risk with Century or Classic.

As far as the Riley Defense, they do seem to have a better reputation so far than other US AKs. Id like to see more testing done on them.

Seems to be a tactic shitty companies use to keep their ooze flowing.. once word gets out that their shit is shit, they submerge and pop back up like a herpes outbreak.

I really hope that some GOOD companies get established in this cooler time. So many companies cranked out garbage to keep up with demand the past 8 years it's like a minefield for poor n00bs looking for their first AK.

Why get parts guns, built with questionable parts, by company who just got into AK building?

    The price.

With decent guns starting to hit $1000 and up more often, and collectables double that or more... the draw of sub 1k rifles gets stronger even if you know going in that the parts, manufacturing process, or both are questionable.

I have a Definitive Arms build on a nice matching Polish kit. They used a Morrisey receiver and it has a side rail, I think its a GM barrel. It shoots really well, I have it tactikewled up with sum Maggiepull and a PA micro dot.

I paid $900 from Atlantic over a year ago.
    needs moar AK

    or beer
