    Secure Room

My shop guns are safe at an off site location but I needed a place at my house that was secure for overflow parts and parts kits. I had to put in a custom size safe door which sucked but I'm really happy with the result. The wife... well, not so much.

That's pretty damn cool! Straight out of Wolfenstein.. Though it doesn't look like you left much room for expansion.

Kind of like a gravity room, can't tell which side is up.

No, this room was repurposed. It was either keep Christmas ornaments and old copies of Shotgun News in there or turn it into a secure storage room. I wish it was x5 the size.

Ahh.. that's a different story. You did a really nice job with it. It's mighty mighty, letting it all hang out.

Nice! My son just bought a house, and has a nice space for doing what you did, and was talking about last week. Any tips I can pass along?

No matter what size it is, its never big enough. Brick looks sharp. I like it.

This is doubly true considering you're building your shop from the ground up. That was your first mistake! There's something to be said about digging a "foundation" that's 3 stories deep with floors on each level. Eventually you'll have to get one of those swiveling high backed chairs and a cat.

Run A/C, I didn’t and I regret it. If making it fireproof make sure to put in plenty of electrical outlets, again, mistake on my part and now no power for dehumidifier. I was more concerned about fire proofing and didn’t think it through as I should.

Wife only agreed if we could sell the house and call it a wine cellar. A wine cellar with a safe door? I’m in Georgia. More people care about guns than wine. My guess is people will want it for guns over wine. At least that’s my hope.

That's pretty damn nice, see several kits I'd like to have :P
Where'd you get that shelving system, I like it, how deep is it? I see some of your stickers say OG barrel, you got to pull the barrel to store in it, or can it take like a cut front half from an ak/akm? How about an rpk/m76 length?

Some of you are too young to remember this but back in my day we had so much toilet paper that we threw it into the trees of our enemies.

The cabinets came from Global Industrial. They are 18” deep and will fit a demilled OG barreled AK kit. If the cut is close to the trunnion they will fit sideways. RPK barrels won’t fit which sucks but I couldn’t find drawers with a 24” depth.

18” fits the standard size kits pretty well. Non barreled single saw cut RPK kits are no problem.

What's the material in the bottom of the drawers?

It’s toolbox liner. This stuff is way tougher than the Harbor Freight stuff.
