THE WIFE AND I TOOK THE RPKs OUT DURING LUNCH.

The wife and I went out and put a few rounds down range today. Nothing but a quick run out to go shooting since my wife was on her lunch break. Just put a few rounds on paper to see how they shoot. I can say they shoot better than my vision....... Getting old is not for the faint of heart. I need to get glasses. ADDED YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Quick run out to the local 4774 Union shooting range. She had some time for lunch so she made sandwiches and I loaded the truck. Not very many rounds down range. We've been chomping at the bit to get some rounds down both new RPKs though. These are YUGO M72B1 RPKs.

After shooting today I'm really leaning towards getting some type of Optics on them both. For me the sites were just fuzzy to be pin point accurate. They don't have scope mounts though and Im not sure what kind I need to get for the Yugos if that makes a difference. I don't think I want to go with the TWS mounts. Anyway we had fun.

I think there was a mount not long ago here on the forum that required no drilling or permanent modifications. Maybe one of the other members can recall it by name.

Either way, looks like you two had fun! How was the accuracy and how far out were the targets?

    BTW, video no work.

I think getting an optic on there will do you well. When I would shoot mine using the bi-pod, it seemed my POI was way off compared to folding them and resting the gun on a sandbag. YMMV

We were doing the initial sight in. 25 Yards then to 100 yards. We really just wanted to shoot them since we have not really had the time. One inch (1")" groups at 25 yards. Again my eyes are not what they use to be. The wife groups were a bit bigger but going prone in the bed of the truck was a bit uncomfortable for her. We just didn't have the time to stretch it out to 100 yards. I was a bit optimistic about the time. Thats ok the 25 yard groups are done at least. Those were just with the Golden Tiger Hollow Point and some decade plus old Silver Bear Soft Point ammo I've had for 10 plus years. After I get the sights adjusted I will do some accuracy work with the high end 7.62x39 I have gathered so far. I have more selections on the way as well so it should be a pretty good write up/test. The goal is to see what shoots the best with the best bullet design. I suspect it will come down to the Corbon and the Hornady Black. We shall see though.

I suspect you are right. I have my back pack but just used the Bi Pod as we were also seeing if one shot better than the other. So far at 25 Yards its pretty much the same with me shooting both. A 100 yards should show up any real differences. Either way we love them. A lot of fun to shoot. Very little recoil. Im looking at the Kahles 1-6x24, Swarovski 1-6x24 and also the Night Force NX8 1-8x24. I will post a report on whatever I end up with.
