Picked up Federal 9mm ball 50 rd boxes $7 was $7.97, Federal JHP 9mm box of 100 $25, Winchester and Federal 223 $5 a box. They have Federal 475 rds. 62 grain 556 for $154. Nope. First day of gun season here for deer is tomorrow. There all out at the deer camp tonight. For guys on a tight budget, might be a good time to pick up a few boxes.

Walmart not selling certain ammo is old news. I talked to a Walmart employee about this. Walmart has a year supply in their warehouse. The Walmart I go to has restocked handgun ammo a few times since Walmart announced they will stop selling it.

I wait for sales and buy online.
Before the '12 panic, it was easy to stop at WM and grab some .22lr for cheap, but those days are gone.

My understanding is no, they don't. They are wanting to have the handgun ammo gone by the end of December. Our local stores, there are 8 of them. They were packed with ammo, but are no longer able to order anything from the warehouse as far as handgun ammo.

I'm curious how much store employees actually know. I always see this on forums...."the employee told me......."

From the employees I see I just can't picture them being that in tune with the goings on behind the scenes. Most can't even help you with stuff in the store.

I'm thinking a lot of the information is a broken telephone, wether it be ammo, TV, or flip-flops.

I think whomever you ask usually heard from someone who heard from someone, who was told something...etc..

WM does not have any warehouse with a year supply of anything. That's not the way their business works. They require suppliers to keep the shelves full by shipping goods when they are needed. It's a huge cost for the suppliers and allows WM to make more money by not having to keep a supply of stock in a warehouse. IF they have re-stocked shelves since the CEO decided to go anti second amendment, then they had a contract with the supplier for a certain amount of stock and are honoring that.

You could be right. He said warehouse. It would be a lot of ammo stored in one warehouse to be a years supply. I know Walmart has many distribution centers throughout the country. I have been to a few of them. I would imagine there still is a lot in all their distribution centers combined, whatever the case may be. Walmart has said they sell 20% of ammo in the U.S..

What Walmart probably means is that they have enough ammo in their warehouses equal to a year of normal sales, which I imagine might be less than it sounds. Walmart's distribution chain actually can draw between stores, so if something isn't selling in one area they will move it to where it is. There are probably a lot of Walmarts that stock ammo but only sell a few boxes a month, especially in areas with little demand for it. All that inventory is on the shelves and not in a distribution center, but it can still be moved to another place.
