    Egyptian Kyber Pass?

Just wondering. My new son in law wants to have an AKM built. He likes the idea of a Kyber Pass rifle made from various parts that the Taliban would use. I told him I will give him all the parts minus receiver and he has to pay to have it built. So I have a really nice Egyptian front trunnion along with the matching bolt and carrier. The rest of the parts are mixed Russian stuff plus a like new Polish underfolder stock. So....were any Egyptian rifles used by the Taliban or found their way to an Afghan gunsmith. Thanks.

    I'll ask.
We've got a hell of a lot more in common with the fellow citizens we're being trained to hate than the puppetmasters training us to hate them.

I don't think it matters much.
It seems they mainly cloned the Russian markings on the parts they fabbed or used.

And of course the signature Khyber look of the triangle folder on a 7.62 x 39 AKM or milled.
Look in the Central Asian/Khyber area on this site to view some USA made Khyber type builds or some original Khyber builds.
    Use that as a guide.

Also decide if you want a shiny tourist model or a worn looking haji Khyber.

Yes. It was an earlier version I had seen, but most certainly.
    Want to buy:
    1966 East German AKM kit
    TYPE 1 kit
    North Korean kit
    Serbian M76 sniper vest (M-99 A3)

If I was not on some government watch list, I'd be insulted.

Yes, Egyptian/Maadi AKMs do appear in Afghanistan/KP region. Fellow member Ashfaq says they are fairly common in the gun bazaars of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Region, which feeds much of the arms into Eastern Afghanistan and beyond.

Yes you will see the Egyptian AK's in Khyber region "north west frontier" of Pakistan and Afghanistan but they are not very much popular coz of their heavy weight. But for ref yes they can be seen in Darra Adam Khel gun market.

Thanks. I'm using parts from one as the basis for a Kyber Pass build. Can you post pictures of a few on the forum. I'd love to see them.

There's a raggedy ass Eygyptian Maadi AKM with a Romanian push button folder sitting in our arms room right now. It's basically "in the white," and has seen some hard use for many years, but it's just like all the other AKs in the batch we have - rode hard and put up wet.

I have two mismatched Maadi kits back home that are eventually going to be built up, one as a Khyber Pass style BFPU and the other as a standard Egyptian AKM.

I'm gonna try to post some pics of these shithouse AKs sometime this week, including the Paki Made ("gets you laid") Type 2 that still has file marks all over it. Two of the AKs have stocks made out of 2x4 boards crudely hewn to fit the rear trunnions, and the slings are locally made copies of the Russian "mustard" colored slings, but the quality is about what you'd expect.

Yes there are plenty to be had, and some of them have been "Khybered Up" also.

I had an export Egyptian that I had to get working for one of the interpreters a few years back it ended up with a RPK stock on it, some Russian and Romanian FCG parts and away she went.

I built a Khyber Pass clone some years ago using an Egyptian trunnion, RSB and gas block as well as a mix of other parts that I obtained on the cheap. Worn or rusted parts were very acceptable.

I built my chopped M72 in this Taliban Khyber spirit
    Tabok markings
    Egyptian sight leaf
    Triangle folder
I dig it but few people notice or get it
Wanted it to represent what a current war bring back would look like.
