I worked at a brake shop in grand prairie in my 20s, and about my 3rd day at work, the boss called me into the office and told me I had to take a drug test. I said OK and he told me to roll a blunt because his crew didn t smoke homegrown

I'm sitting here in near agony with a kidney stone that woke me from a dead sleep last night. I waited nine hours until the Urgent Care clinic two blocks away opened.
Dry heaves, sweats, for those of you who haven't had a kidney stone, there is little you can compare the pain to. If it weren't for the bottle of Morphine sitting next to me, I'm not sure I could handle it.
Now why is my medication anyone's else's business?
This whole drug testing fiasco was never about looking to help someone who using drugs, it's always been a way for the insurance companies to get out of paying money.

This, and random ones at that. I have to take them, as do many others, so its only fair they do too.

In the early 80's the .Mil got the random urinalysis program going, there was a need for that in the military at the time. I remember walking in on my supervisor nodding off with the needle still in his arm.
I think for civilians it's too intrusive.

I have to take them every two years along with a physical. And I am subject to random tests. DOT required.

well, in many, maybe even most workplaces, especially in certain industries, random drug testing isnt exactly random or all that widespread. In more than a few of my former workplaces, particularly when I've worked construction, oilfield or food-service, random piss testing was a tool used by management to get rid of problem employees who were pretty sure to fail the tests, usually given to employees who were performing poorly or acting erratic.

My drug free mind thinks the panel needs to go through rehabilitation before we consider what they propose.

I get pissed tested every month. I've skipped some months here and there by luck, but my name always seems to come up on "random" populated tests. I'm pretty tired of it honestly. It's not the piss test itself I'm over, it's waiting in the hot ass pway for an hour full of sweaty bodies just to actually pee.

So some vaguely defined "independent, volunteer panel of national experts in disease prevention and evidence-based medicine" thinks that because they think there's a lot of pill heads in the US every single adult should get tested for drug use and the LA Times is advocating this?

    Yeah… that'll happen.
