    Camping and personal defense.

Anyone a camper here? We are relatively new to camping and wondering what personal waepons folks like to have along..times being what they are and all. Your thoughts re non-lethal weapons vs say a pistol vs a 30-30 carbine etrc.

I carry a knife and a glock on me, and keep an AR-15 behind the seat in my truck. I also have an extra knife and pistol stashed in the truck. my 'less lethal' option I carry in the truck is an aluminum baseball bat.

Yup wife and I have HCPs and both carry at least a small semi-auto..very inconspicuously..even hiking. Also both have knives of various sizes. Problem is there are several US states which really have 'gone communist' re firearms...and campers often have to at least pass thru them, to get to good places. I was more interested in favorite non-lethal weapons I guess, or possibly improvised weapons. Yes, we know about "bear spray"

Glock 20 its a 10mm. Very light for 16 rounds and one extra mag gives you 31 total rounds. Not a rifle...however, much better choice than a revolver in .357 or .44 mag. Lighter, more rounds, less recoil, easier to pack and easier to pack mags than speed loaders. Has a real for a light also. Just my 2 cents...

Rather than bear spray I would consider Sabre brand pepper gel. I have a couple of the ones that are close to "small fire extinguisher" size. I think the gel is easier to aim and hit your target with, espeically if it is windy.

As for travel I think you would be safe traveling through commie areas if your handgun was unloaded and in a locked case.

It is a shame when commie states hate your AK. A shame.

Will you possibly have to defend yourself from a bear?
Are you going to be camping in that type of area?
Big thanks to Moses1986, 10Gauge, Pookie, NFA ARMS, Duck Durbin and everyone that served this country.

Depends where you're hiking/camping. I bring some kind of duty size handgun and an AK. Took an FAL once.

COLD STEEL 92SF COLDSTEEL Cold Steel Special Forces 19-11/16".
These things are tough cheap and versatile. Also they very sharp out of package. I love practicality, reliability and simplicity. These shovels fit all my needs and I have one for my argo, 350x atc, my truck, next to my bed and in the garage for yard work.
Rumored that some individuals during the second world war would stick these, original military issue of course, into their equipment belts with the blade above the belt and covering some of the vital organs, poor man's armor plate.
