    Armed Teachers

I live in SE Ohio, and our local high school has instituted a preliminary program to arm teachers on a voluntary basis. Based on our highly charged social paganism, it only takes one demented martyr to contaminate a well intentioned program. Aside from having para-military parents posted outside the school, paranoia is a learning curve best left alone. Why not have a vocational gunsmithing class while you're at it? Knowledge is the best defense against radical anarchy. But does this make for better students, under the weight of social justice, forced to bend to socialism's utopia's demands? Army and Marine recruiters will mistakingly believe the kids are pro-gun and anti-college, causing parents to rebel. This smells of an institutional effort to manipulate the pendulum, in an effort in undermine self reliance. Is the government Nanny packing?? JWM

Think your hitting the bottle too hard OP.

I say, with how left liberal leaning many teachers are, arming teachers are a good dose of reality.

What is wrong with properly trained and armed teachers. Most schools like in my area have School Police that are armed. But their jurisdiction is limited to school property and students. We are in a rural area. We do have or had a few Candy Ass liberal teachers years ago. One got upset because my oldest son wore a t- shirt with the 2nd amendment on the front and an AR-15 on the back.
I like them mittens. I always thought Mary Poppins was HOTT.

Arming teachers is a double edged sword. The will to kill is still in question. No way this can be instilled into civilian's minds no matter what the training. Teachers will also now be a mark for the psychos. Take 'em out first. Who wants to volunteer to put a target on their chest in close quarters? So if it seems that law enforcement can't (or won't) handle things, we leave it to civilians? Moms, dads, and the babysitter?
Think about the possible perps. Middle school or high school age? What teacher is going to draw on and fire at a child? Our politicians are freaking nuts (most of them are criminals themselves BTW). Anyone has-should have the right to carry a firearm for protection of themselves or others due to circumstances they are involved with for any reason.
I'm guessing that the lawyers and insurance companies are having a field day with all of this. I'm almost sure my rates went up just thinking about it.
What's wrong with state of the art electronics?? Metal detectors and magnetic release locks?
I figure it's the same ordeal over and over in our dysfunctional society these days. The simple shit gets overlooked by knee jerk reactions. Then there's PC, attitudes, circumstances, and neighborhoods.
After political bias we have gender bias and then we have the racial bias. Black/white teacher/student/psycho-the ever evolving way the media will twist things around as to how everything happened. You know-the criminal didn't deserve to die such a horrible death and the way our sick and demented politicians think and break the laws all-the-while making them.
We've gone down the path of no good answers and no good humans. Our DNA has stretched to it's limits and it's time for this planet to burn. We're not getting any smarter as the human race. Matter of fact we're going backwards. I'm an optimist and always have been.
Maybe I've been hitting the bottle too. Likely better than any RX being handed out today in mass quantities on the private sector or through the VA.
MAGA- let's get this show on the road!

I don't understand why this is such a hard concept to grasp. Arming teachers, or allowing them to be armed, are totally different concepts. The push is to allow teachers to be armed. If someone is competent and willing to step up and provide the extra support, why would you be against it?

I guess you like living in a delusional world that bad people don't exist, and that society is violence free. The teacher who steps up and says, "I want to carry", is most likely going to be that ex military, police, hunter or acid shooter (yes they do exist and you get the point). Ms. Susan, the transgender history teacher who drives the coexist mobile and has purple hair, ain't going to be the one packing heat.

I'm not going to sit here and dissect what's wrong with your post because you're never going to get it anyhow. However, this false notion that because someone is a teacher, they cannot do anything else in this world besides educate is totally absurd. Also, securing a campus without turning it into the likes of a prison or military base is simply not possible.

I once took violin lessons and worked in a coffee shop, so I couldn't possibly be able to handle carrying a gun, or even killing someone right?

Arming teachers has just been signed into law by the governor of FL too, as well as arming certain paramedics.

I think it's great idea overall, but the teacher side of the initiative definitely need close monitoring and maintenance.
