Need help, CSI funny video, and compliance part info

    OKay,

    two totally unrelated topics here.

1, I remember seeing a video, think it was from Ebaums world, about a CSI gag where they guy turns on the black light and the chicks face shows trace all over it... I can't find it or the original post, anyone who can help out please....

2, I also can't find the posting and picture where a member took a selector lever and riveted an attachment onto it so that it could be operated with one hand. I am wondering, since US guns can be "assembled" in the US, if he were to take original selectors, and modify them this way, and THEN sell them again, would they NOW be classified as a US part for the purposes of 922r?

    Thanks

Edit: Found the selector part, here's the link to the original thread

The selector is a part from the 922R list.

The 16 countable parts of an AK rifle. No more than 10 of these parts may be imported.

    (1) Receiver*
    (2) Barrel
    (3) Trunnion
    (4) Muzzle attachments*
    (5) Bolt
    (6) Bolt carrier
    (7) Gas piston*
    (8) Trigger*
    (9) Hammer*
    (10) Disconnecter*
    (11) Buttstock*
    (12) Pistol grip*
    (13) Forearm handguards*
    (14) Magazine body
    (15) Follower
    (16) Floorplate

The parts with the * are the most commonly available U.S. manufactured parts.

On a typical stamped receiver rifle you need to replace 5 parts with no muzzle attachment and 6 parts with a muzzle attachment.

On a typical milled receiver rifle you need to replace 4 parts with no muzzle attachment and 5 parts with a muzzle attachment, because there isn't a barrel trunion, it is part of the receiver.

When building an AK pistol, these regulations do not apply. You can not have a stock or forward pistol grip on a pistol.

    Thanks for the link guys...

and I guess the 922r question was confusing?

I'm not asking if the selector is a 922r compliance part.

I'm asking IF you take a part that is not a compliance part...and you modify it or add parts from the US to it, like was done to the selector in the other link... does it THEN become a US part? Or only if the part you add is more than 50% of the part?

I'm guessing I'll probably gave to write to ATF about this huh?

From a tech letter I recall reading it had to be a complete and total rework of the part. You couldn't just modify it a bit, it had to be akin to converting a stock into a pistol grip, or turning a trigger into a disconnector.
