    Alternatives to the NRA?

Years ago I supported the NRA. I was always a little troubled by the money they wasted on stupid shit like free gym bags for signing up. They just seemed to throw money away, money that should have been used elsewhere, fighting the good fight. In the 1990s when the Elmer Fudd types commented that they were fighting for hunting rifles and nothing more I forever turned my back on the NRA.

Are there any decent alternatives out there, groups that are doing any good at all to preserve our most fundamental right?

Have they changed their ways about their support of "assault rifles", or are they still selling us out? Meaning the NRA.

Still selling us out, they even teamed up with the Brady Bunch a little while ago to help push a bill that "toughened up" the NICS check.

What do you mean by "assault rifles". If you are calling Semi auto AK's and AR's assault rifles you are mistaken. True assault rifles are full auto. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysf8x477c30

Yeah, the clout to sell us out. Power corrupts.

GOA is what the NRA should strive for.

I'm active military. I know what an assault rifle is, not that they're ever called that anymore.

I was hoping the NRA had changed some. Got an advert from the fuckers today and wondered. It's sad they've divided gun owners in America to the benefit of the Nazis.

Got a funny story to add in here; a few weeks ago my brother rented the movie "Breach", which followed the Hanssen spy case.

During one of the scenes they showed the change-over from Bill Klinton and Janet Reno to their successors, with the staff taking down the old pictures and putting up the new in one of the FBI offices. My brother and I are all high-fiveing over the change-over, but my 15 year old daughter has no clue.

She says "I know who Bill Klinton is and what he did, but who's the other guy in the picture next to him"? Referring to Reno! I laughed my ass off over that one!

I'm a life member of both NRA and GOA.

For my money, GOA does more and compromises less.

There is also the Second Amendment Foundation and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms. I do not know much about either, so any light that can be shed would be helpful to us all.

Join the NRA, then join whoever else you want to in addition to the NRA if it eases your mind in any way.

Joined Twice and Quit Twice....Never again.
Basically they annoyed me out of being a member.

I HATE Junk mail, and phone calls begging for more money,
especially from groups that have alot of money,
that insist on pissing it away on stupid shit like more
junk mail and phone calls begging for more money.

If your are one of the few who enjoy getting junk mail
begging for more money, or unsolicited phone calls from
"this group" or"that political network", then they are the
    organization for you.
