My cousin Eric made it safely. So far so good.

I'll keep everyone updated to how he's doing. He is an MP in the Army and just went over last week.

Hello family. I am ok! Just wanted to let you all know. I am at Camp Buering in the Kuwaiti desert. It is hot and the desert is just like i imagined. There are camels and everything. I hope all is well with you. We are getting ready to cross the border into Iraq in a few days. I will be going to FOB TAJI in Baghdad. Its not that bad here in Kuwait. I wish i was going to be here for a year..... We have air conditioned tents and the food is really good. I can only hope that baghdad is as nice..... anyway i love you all and miss you. I will stay in touch.
    Love Eric

I stayed there for three weeks in March of 05. Not a bad place. Here's some pics:

Not totally sure the last pic is from there... cool pic though.

Let him know he is in our thoughts and prayers. I'm over in the area also as we speak. I'm heading home soon, but I wish him the best.

Us guys in the military sure have a different definition of "not a bad place"
I lived like that for pretty much all of my 14 months!
And Taji isn't actually in Baghdad, it is half way between Baghdad and Balad. A BIG base.

holy f***ing nice new tents!,.. when i was going thru there in Jan 04 we had this old nasty assed black mold covered canvas tent that leaked like a damn siv,.. when it rained everyone in the tent would have to shuffle the cots around and or wear there wet weather gear AND poncho,.... i was glad we had the cots

yeah Taji is pretty big,... i would pass it all the time doing escorts from Baghdad to other places up north.

if he can get up to Balad,.. tell him to go,. that place is like a slice of heaven compared to the places i went,. stupid rules about the mortars though,.... i can tell you a few good ones,. but thats for another day.

i have a bunch of buddies there now,...i'll probally see them soon but tell him to be safe
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said Here am I, Send me ISAIAH 6:8
