Actually im surprised the 88 kits are still available. Once you have a 83 kit the snob in you kicks in and you look at these as a downgrade. Realistically they are great kits to build up and make awesome rifles.

Kind of a mix of a 1985 kit I have posted before but it is finally sunny so I took some pics. I still need a rear trunnion and a trigger guard, but I think the rest of the stuff is a mix of Bulgarian and Russian. I got the right siderail from the guy who got Doug's old company.... and the receiver is on the way.

Anyone know the story here with the ribbed vs flat RPK74 stocks? IMG_5786.jpeg

Great...I would love to see the final pictures. I’ve got a Bulgarian RPK, but always wanted the 74 version.

This one took a while to find.

1964 original barrel Md63 kit. Recoil spring, selector and FCG parts don't match but the rest does.

Recently found a bayonet in a gun show bin that had a 1964 letter prefix and font style.
Constantly studying spots welds, mag well dimple shapes, center support rivet heads and selector markings for the last 12 years...

BTW - Keep your BFH away from my AK!

WTB Late East German 7.62 top cover and gas tube numbered 687.

The early Romanian kits are nice.
Several barrel- less early 63-65 kit offerings lately.
An original barrel early kit is the big bonus.

Gonna be so worth the bumps in the road that came with this project Dave, looks even better than I imagined. Absolutely killer stockset is just the icing on the cake!

Thanks Mike...this'll round out the Russian/Bulgy 74's and I'm hoping to get started on some akm's next...heart surgery and 2 knee replacements in the last 9 months has really slowed me down...this dang retirement has been kinda tough on me......

Man I'm pumped. I've had a 1990 AKSU kit for a few months now that is perfect except the dimples are toast. Right about when I gave up hope finding a replacement FSB with intact dimples, a member here hooked me up!
