What kind of kit and from whom?

I am new to this forum and have been poking around checking it out today. This forum was recomended by a gentleman I met at a gunshow in Richmond last Sunday. Yesterday I was just looking for a used SAR1 but now I want to build a Romanian G kit. Where can I buy a good matching numbers kit or two or three? Which Nodak receiver would I use? I am new to this so any help is appreciated...VaWolf

    Aw man, where to begin?

Check out all the info at the top of the Build forum for starters.
The NDS economy reciever is an excellent choice. It was designed to be used with a Century FCG. If you use a G2 FCG as I did you'll want to use a double hook model and file a extra groove underneath for the second hook. It'll be a groove about half the length of the already cut one. Or, get their premium reciever and a package deal from one of the vendors here to get yourself a G2 FCG, USA made gas piston and muzzle device so the rifle will be 922r compliant. DO look into 922 compliance. Basically you'll need a half dozen USA made parts in the rifle when you're done.
There are many excellent vendors here. I have dealt with most. I do know that Copes still has excellent all matching Romy G's in stock because I got two recently from them. They also sell all the compliance parts and have very reasonable shipping. CFS, DPH and others sell the kits too. I'm sure there are others.
You'll need a long and short rivet setting tool. You'll need a way to press out and reinstall the barrel pins and the barrel itself.
There's more, of course. But it's fascinating to learn.
There is a tutorial about building called "Soup to Nuts". They are huge pdf files, but if you have a high speed connection, I could e-mail them to you.

Welcome to the best AK forum! I hope you find what you need here as I have. Enjoy!

I have very slow internet access. Was planning on TAPCO fcg, red star clip, maybe even american furniture. Compliance shouldn't be an issue. Have some of the tools. I will read more posts. Thanks for the input...VaWolf

My CD burmer is down. Otherwise I could put it on a CD and snail mail it for you.
I believe I originally found the Soup to Nuts series over on Gunco in their AK Building forum. That's a good resource too.

Best advice is to try and hook up with some of your local board members. I found a guy out here in Utah who has been invaluable is teaching me how to do builds. I bought the tooling, he provided the knowledge. It has worked out well.

Thanks again. Just scrolled down and found wanted to sell forum. Not sure if I can swing a Polish underfolder and a Romanian fixed stock. Any of you guys nearby shoot at Piedmont Sportsman Club? I live in the south end of the county not far from the Louisa and Spotsy lines. Hope to buy a kit of some type soon but probably will not start working on it till next year. Look forward to meeting you and maybe do some plinking at PSC...VaWolf

You might want to consider getting one of these now and sticking it away until can build it up.

    Plenty of VA guys here.

I shoot at Cavalier, very western edge of Hanover at the Louisa line.
