    Just picked up a nice 1945 Remington Rand/Colt 1911A1...

I'll just say I got a heck of a deal. The pistol is a 1945 Remington Rand frame with a Colt slide. It's an arsenal rebuild therefore not original in that respect...but it's a great looking pistol with 65 years worth of holster wear and character. Can't wait to get to the range!

    Its official...I hate you.

I have been looking for a genuine US Government Property marked .45 for more than a few years now, and can't seem to find one...even a rebuild, which I have no problem with.

If you decide to part with it, please PM me....

    And again....I hate you.

No bought it off of a friend for next to nothing. It's marked "United States Property M1911A1 US Army" Pretty darn cool and an awesome piece of history.

My Mixmaster 1945 Colt slide /Ithaca Frame "Bringback" war trophy pistol was an old timers "Truck Gun" for 35 years before I got it . These are great firearms with gravitas .

Re: Just picked up a nice 1945 Remington Rand/Colt 1911A1...

My best friend's dad was a clerk (or something) in WWII and got issued a Rem/Rand M1911A1, April 1944 mfg, NIB (100% factory assy line, top to bottom) - He threw it in his duffle bag and ultimately brought it home...

Anyway, his dad died in the late 1990s, his relationship with his father was "turbulent" to say the least, and while he's into guns he's just not all that keen on 1911s - so he gave it to me on the condition that I not sell it!!! It's like 90%+ condition, the slide is tight, and has one of the best triggers and sear resets of any 1911 I've ever shot!!! I've got it in a case next to the all matching Luger (also a complete factory setup at 95%+ condition) that my Grandpa brough back from the Hurtigen forrest - from the German he plugged.

I take them both out on the 4th of July and run a box or two of ammo through each of them... Gotta love the classics!!!

Man, I remember shooting a Remington Rand 1911 at Camp Lejeune back in the mid-70's! The slide was so loose you could rattle the slide from side to side but that sucker still shot...

Also, shot a Singer and an IBM 1911. All these were still in service at the time...wonder what happened to them when the Marine Corps went to the M-9s!

The 1911 is still the best looking pistol IMO and the .45 ACP rnd is still the best .

    Is it a 1911 slide?

I have a Colt 1911 frame/Remington Rand slide for mine....
