    DSArms Receivers?

I'm sick of looking around for a sacrificial rifle with a good receiver, and since a real NOS Imbel prices officially hit retarded, I'm going to gamble on DSA. I've had zero problems in the past, but keep hearing mixed reviews about their new offerings. Anyone have a recent experience, good or bad?

Got the new Israeli ones, others complained about the markings being slightly jaded but fitting and installing was fine.

They had a type 3 sale last month and no complaints.

Funbummer the funsmith gave it some good praise also.

The only complaint is that everything was a bit tight but mines slides fine with just a nudge to move it.

Good to hear, because a type III is what I want to use.

They've had TIII up for a couple of days now. Did TII also but they sold out in less than 24 hours.

FWIW, if you call PARs you can still buy NOS IMBEL for $550.

can only compare one build on theirs recently to an orf but it was easy street for the build and test fire.

Hopefully I can snag one soon enough for my little project. I decided to build the last kit I own, and make it a "bush rifle". Its obviously non matching, but I plan on fixing that by re-stamping numbers on the bolt carrier, then using an electro-pencil on the bolt. The carrier is Belgian and looks damn near new, and the inch bolt is 100% new. The lower assembly is an Imbel and is not numbered at all.

I decided to put a crowbar in my wallet and shell out the coin for a gear logo Imbel receiver. Hopefully all will go well with the build because I sure spent some time and money sourcing these parts. I'm going to have trouble sitting down for a few weeks.

That guy has bashed every single manufacturer of FAL receivers save for the original Gear Logo IMBEL ones - probably because they mostly come on pre-assembled guns that he doesn't have to put together. What other gunsmiths just fix or fit, he makes unhinged YouTube rants about or writes 10,000 whinging screeds on his personal websites and forums. Someone probably should have told the guy gunsmithing involves a good deal of "fitting" before he chose this career path, because performing this task makes him even more miserable than he already is. He also has a serious hardon for Dan Coonan for some reason.

I have a Coonan Type III with thousands of rounds put through it on an IMBEL parts kit and it's never given me any trouble, FWIW.

I know those IMBEL's cost a pretty penny but they have definitely held their resale value.

This one is going to be the FAL I always wanted...para length barrel, para sights, folding cocking handle and L1A1 style selector switch. Love the length and handiness of the para, but not a huge fan of the folding stock.

Sounds like a killer build. Keep us posted.

I like the FN folding stock, myself. Never shot a rifle with one but hopefully that will change when and if I get this Galil kit put together.

Here's mine. It used to be a plain ol' IMBEL but I turned it into a half-assed South African R1 clone. I still have all the old furniture if I ever want to switch it back. Added a South African folding grenade sight/gas plug, non-bipod cut hand guards, a Belgian walnut stock, and a South African R4 sling.
