Looks like a fun and sucessful range trip. Really digging the looks of your rifle.

    Was the ammo this stuff?

    Nice ammo to reload with..

I haven't seen Cavim in a while but it was happy fodder in my FALs.

Great day at the range today, and final BZO achieved. I also learned that when using a para rear sight, its best to just leave the damn thing set at 250 (rear position) and just leave it. When I double checked my zero at 100M, I shot 10 rounds with the rear sight set to 150, and they landed where I was aiming, then when I flipped the sight to 250, there was only a slight change...hardly noticeable at all, but ever so slightly higher grouping.
Well, I figured my group would be somewhat low at 300M, so I left the sight at 250, then proceeded to shoot 1 mag of 5 with careful aiming, then changing mags on the last shot, and going into sustained fire with the full mag of 20, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that all 25 landed on the target. Even though I did not run down and look, I suspect that the first five landed on the painted circle, and the rest shifted around as the barrel heated up. No way of knowing for sure, but I'm pleased with the results. The only question now is should I paint this camo or not?

Very nice results, Rob, and good eye at 300m. Were it me, there wouldn’t be any attempt to do a Rhodie-style paint job. Never seen one that looked good, that paint has to be a matter of history to look right. Now, a stylized Rhodie look, or some other pattern in a nice sharp cerakote, might be pretty cool.

Thanks Brian! As for the camo job, Rhodie camo is not what I had in mind at all, something modern like I did with 2 of my ARs. I'm really on the fence about this...on one hand, I love the finish it has now, but on the other, also love good camo jobs when done right.

You can always camo it after the russians invade. Looks good black.

Looks like mission accomplished and nice shooting.

I think the rifle looks great as is but a well done camo job would look good too. Maybe copy a historical paint scheme or do something two tone to set your FAL apart from every painted AR out there.

Mark's finish is solvent resistant so you could wash off a camo job with solvent if you didn't like it. I prefer my rifles with no camo but that's me. Earlier you indicated you are going for a certain look and I'm all for that. But if you are on the fence there's no harm in giving it some time to see how you feel later.

I don't "run" my guns or "run" anything on them. Likewise, none of my guns are "platforms".
