    My new real dissipator build

    I have been wanting to build a dissipator for some time now. A real dissipator is a 16" barrel AR with rifle length gas tube and handguard. A mock dissipator was used by law enforcement in many states, it is a 16" barrel AR with medium or carbine length gas tube. The purpose was to increase the distance between the sights to improve accuracy maintaining the 16" barrel. I looked around and nobody build a real dissipator, with earlier versions the barrel was too short to send enough gas in a rifle length gas tube. There are some companies that sell a mock dissipator like Windham but i wanted the original design.
    I had never built an AR before but i built many AKs and if you build both you know how easy AR build comparing to AK build. Only company i found has a real dissipator barrel is Del-ton so started with that, A2 upper from Fulton armory, Lower from PSA. Del-ton designed the gas port to send enough gas in the rifle length gas tube. I took it to the range today and ran 200 rounds flawlessly through it. Here she is;

    I like it.

    And I definitely agree, just about anyone could put an ar together. The ease of complete assembly/disassembly speaks to the genius of the design. If a person was desperate you could assemble an entire ar with a hammer, a piece of metal to use as a punch, and some channellocks lol.. not recommending that, but it is possible.

    Nice looking dissy. I to wanted one & built it with a 16” barrel & mid gas system so I would have no problems. So far it’s been running flawlessly now for a couple years.

    I took it for function test and i didnít measure grouping. Everything was so tight fitting on the the del-ton barrel and PSA BCG i wanted to make sure it works and smooth out the action first. I was very pleased with the results

    Nice rifle! I have a KAC M5 RAS. Maybe I should buy a barrel.

    Nice good looking build. As much as I like optics on my ARs, I'm still a sucker for irons.

    Dissipators are pretty neat. I don't much care for AR-15's and always end up selling them off when I build/buy one, but the last one I did was a 605 clone with mid length gas. Shot pretty sweet, but the ak I had just built and test fired alongside it totally took the wind out of it's sails lol.

    Have a Bushmaster A2 carbine coming soon, 1995 ish because no flash hider or bayo lug.
    Really nice shape and low round count.

    Here's a picture of mine. It's made on all Rock River Arms parts except the 16" barrel which is Green Mountain & Magpul rifle handguard. I copied the RRA Operator design.
