    Anyone home brew

I do, 10+ years now. Getting ready to bottle 35+ gals of Capt Perry, a pear hard cider, 5 gals of Kriek( a sour with cherries) and 5 gals of Ode Bruin( a brown sour). Both the sour beers have been over a year in the making.

    bottle cleaning

    bottle emptying

    portable kegs

Homebrewer here, although I haven't brewed in about a year due to being so damn busy and living in a high rise apartment. That's all changing with the move this week, but the good news is I have a Belgian blonde ale that's been aging for that whole time. I brewed it March 2015, drove from Baton Rouge to Dallas with it in a 6 gallon carboy buckled in to my passenger seat, and it will be bottled this weekend.

Cheers, looks like you have some great beers coming up!

homebrewer here, as well. I just brewed for the first time in over a year. A DIPA made with Conan yeast and a heavy hops whirlpool at the end. Dry hopping it tonight and kegging it next week.

I've got a keezer with 3 soda kegs and a 3 draft tower on top. boatma1 is right- it's tough to do when you're busy.

that belgian ale aging for over a year sounds delicious...

scottyb- I've never done a sour. Is it true that it pretty much makes your equipment "sour only" after you go down that path?

I do!!! I do!!! Another member from here turned me onto it! Helped me set things up and even donated equipment! Thank you, you know who you are. And thanks to the AK forum

I got one going now, should be ready to bottle over the weekend and it will also be the first time Ill be trying to reuse the yeast cake to make another beer.

This is an attempt to make Orval. We'll see what happens.

    Some past brews

Its recommended that you keep certain equipment separated for use with sours, ie racking cane, carboys, airlocks.

Or just sanitize the piss out of everything.

Used to...but wife didnt like the mess and I found out the lovely glass top stove cant bring large pots to boil. So i am on hiatus until I pick up a turkey cooker and get back into it.

I did however recently find 2 of the MrBeer malt kits on clearance at walmart so I got enough malt to make 5 gallons for about 12$. Gonna have to get it done soon.

I stopped for a couple years but I just started a batch of hard apple cider over the weekend.. found some apple juice on sale and I just had to create again!

Aaaand on the experimental side, I've got one gallon of strawberry honey wine going...and going..and going. It went through fermentation then stopped...I racked it into a new jug and something was weird. I thought it was leaking somewhere but when I took off the cap i heard it fizzing.. put a new airlock on and poof... damn thing started going again! It probably has something to do with overloading it with yeast... heh i put a whole packet of yeast in there..which is enough to treat 5 gallons. Whoops.

Never made beer since I'm lazy I mean a "set it and forget it" kinda guy, but if I could find a kit on clearance like molonlabe did, I'd give it a whirl.

Whirlpool is good way to clump the hops in the center but my keggle is a center drain so that does not work for my setup. Plus mah plate chiller would not like it.

Recently picked up a Brew Bag and also may work that into the mix.
