    New to me fpk

Picked up a psl/fpk today, I don't know know much about these but I've lusted after one for quite a while. It's a tgi fpk but I can't find any thing like it markings wise. It's marked "fpk" on the rear sight base and then right in front of the magwell it's marked "7.62x54r made in Romania tgi" it has the bolt hold open installed and a pinned muzzle break, also has the cleaning rod loop present. What's weird is the serial number is only marked on the front trunnion. Trying to figure out if it's a cugir build or a tgi build.
    Thanks

Looks like a TGI build. As far as I know, the ones coming factory direct from Romania didn't have the bayonet lug, at least mine didn't. Also, the Cugir factory info would be scratched on the side of the receiver, like the WASR.

Well that's a little disappointing it was listed as a psl when I bought it and I was hoping for an import gun. Paid 1200 for the rifle 5 mags and the scope so I think I did ok even for a us build

Don't throw out the baby with the bath water just yet.

Many discussions on the boards re factory vs U.S. assembled PSL , FPK , rifles.

Your rifle lacks the serial number marked ahead of the mag well. TGI imported receivers have serial numbers ahead of magwell.

Your rifle has the barrel trunnion serial number similar to imported rifles I have examined. (F-XXXX)

I recommend your read some of the discussions linked below.

Awesome. I looked at a lot of photos of tgi imported fpk rifles and the markings on the receiver are identical. The USA rifles had a different marking. Also a lot of the century arms imported rifles had the cleaning rod holder like this rifle.

    454zw,

In 2009 I had a conversation with the owner of TGI (Charles Jones) about a Bullpup he had listed on Gunbroker. During our conversation he mentioned he had several PSL barrels and FPK marked Romanian receivers available. We agreed on a price and I purchased two barrels. When they arrived to my surprise the trunnions were included. Both were suffix F-XXXX and dot peen serial marked.
He sent pictures of the FPK receivers and they did not have serial # marked. The area in front of the magazine well was marked identical to your rifle.
I suspect the imported PSL rifles were disassembled for failure to function.

The imported PSL and the TGI kit builds were built from the same parts. Both/either occasionally had some defects in assembly. But the majority are typical Romanian build quality or USA kit build quality and will perform fine.
None are particularly high quality fit and finish compared to some other firearms like a Zastava M76 or FAL etc.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like the rifle is an import. The gun has been 100% reliable so far
