I am pretty excited too, I actually was not excited after I painted my RPK74 which is why I started my search for information. I had to I put every project needing paint on hold for this, which is why I am so deep into Romanian guns now. I have to feed the monkey...

Is the manual you reference dated 1978 and contains 192 pages? Specific to the paint/instructions being Chapter 14, which details the original formula/application, as well as the refurb formula? I have three different Russian manuals (1960s and 1970s) and two different books containing the original chemicals and instructions. Just curious if the 1978 manual is what you are using? If so, I can attest to others that this is the real deal.

I'm also curious if you used the prescribed primer and adhered to the instructions outlining the application for the small parts? I think I read in your other post something about Ukrainian instructions, which confused me. The instructions I have are all from Russian manuals/books and some documents. I assume the instructions you used are from a Russian manual and not a Ukrainian manual or document? As a side note, the formula and instructions for the wood finish is contained in some of the documents/manuals I have, to include the 1978 manual mentioned and a 23 page manual very specific to just the various finishes. Lastly, this finish is not the Tula finish but I believe the chemicals are identical but possibly the portions are of different quantities. No expert, although I have my suspicion of which chemicals would potentially need to be increased, but I'm sure you have already given that some thought.

Thanks for all of the effort, time and money you invested in this venture!

Authentic Russian Arsenal paint project success, info and pictures

I have the manual, and a contact that worked at the Kiev Arsenal who gave me tips and pointers on mixing and what they did and didn't do in Ukraine where they refurbished a lot of weapons.

If your looking at what I am the process takes 48 hrs.

My manual also has the information you quote about the self etching "phosphating" primer. I did use a self etching primer with this project to touch up the spots that no longer had the phosphate coating.

I do not have the exact primer they use.

My manual is Russian, and is specifically for the Squad level weapons. However they make one for the bigger machine guns that is similar. I was trying to be ambiguous a bit.

I know where to get the primer, I didn't have luck importing the solvents so I stopped there. I wish I could have imported them because to make what they have readily available is a lot more expensive.

Yes, that is the 1978 manual. Just wanted to confirm we are looking at the same thing. BTW...what you are doing is fantastic and takes a lot to accomplish for anyone who thinks otherwise. Thanks!

Thank you sir, I was trying to be ambiguous but I am glad to have someone verify my info.

I am going to get back to you and a couple more people tonight.

I should have enough for you and the other two people from what I kept for myself. Regardless we are in business now.

I had issues with the bottles I originally bought, the new ones will seal better and will have a seal around the tops to prevent leaks during shipping.

Hopefully this is the "Tula" resin some people want. Same resin, higher level of polymerization but the product will be thinner/more prone to running like the OG Tula paint

Authentic Russian Arsenal paint project success, info and pictures

All orders are packed, postage paid for and hazmat rules are going to be followed unlike the stuff from over seas. So I can't ship for $5-7 anymore. $10-12 plus x amount per additional bottle. I won't make money on shipping FYI.

    Saiga,
I didn't forget, I have two left. One for you and one for will9370. I will text you and will.

I will start the next batch next week and I will launch the website at the same time. With the new batch I will try my new resin and see how well it replicates Tula. Remember I have step by step instructions for Izzy paint, but not the Tula. I am thinking they might have used more paint plus a HVLP gun, and a little thinner mixture.

I will not forget anyone ever and I am not going anywhere. Keep in mind I work full time and I am doing this alone. Now that I know the laws and how to package this it will be easier.
