Was anyone ever able to confirm the non-corrosive nature of this ammo? I know RAS had some x54R that came in marked non-corrosive that apparently was: 5.45 "red army standard"

Yeah, I wouldn't trust it. Just clean as if corrosive no matter what it says and you're gtg...

I have nearly 7k of 7N6 so there's no way I'm paying a premium price for non-corrosive unless I know it's going to be. The Wolf 60gr HP is great and I've never heard of any corrosive primer mix ups with it. I'd love to pick some of this up, but if there isn't anyone that can confirm the non-corrosive claim I'll be passing for the moment.

    Thanks

I bought a couple boxes of it that I'm intending to test when I get my M74. I'll post back here after I try it out.

All AK ammo is way over priced for some reason ? Must be demand is strong so why lower the prices ?!

i know there was a recall on the 7.62x54R red army standard ammo for being corrosive. I bought some when it first was available and received emails from classicfirearms where i purchased it and century saying tests came back it was corrosive. Century offered 110% refund of purchase. I didnt bother sending it back not worth it. I shot some out of my PSL and Mosin and both rusted up after not cleaning. Nothing worth making a big fuss over i dont see the problem. In my opinion its over priced for what it is.

Well I can't speak for the 7.62x54 or 7.62x39, but the 5.45 I got was noncorrosive, if dirty. These pictures were taken 24 hours after firing, stored the rifle out in the open. No chrome lined bore or chamber.

The primer sealant got all over the breech and chamber though:

Ammo was sealed at the primer but not at the neck. Polymer coated, stamped 5.45x39 UL Red Army Standard. Suffered one broken rim which resulted in a stuck case, had to tap it out with a cleaning rod. Beyond that it all went bang.

Thanks much for the follow up on the corrosive/non-corrosive question.

Wonder if the broken rim was a fluke or we'll see more stories like this coming up.

With the 5.45 shooting of mine done with non-corrosive being a very small portion of the overall round count I'll stick with the Wolf 60gr HP as it doesn't seem to have any issues compared to the so-so history of Red Army Standard. Not saying it's bad ammo, but I'll pay a touch more for a known entity since I shoot so little of it anyways.

Thanks again for the follow through so as to inform the community.

    Eric

There's another thread on the Files were a guy can also confirm the non-corrosive nature of this....but has also experienced torn case rims.
