I was lucky enough to trip across 140 rds this weekend at an out of the way gun shop. 90 rounds of Yugo on stripper clips, and 50 rounds of Egyptian. I've never fired this stuff, so hopefully its better than the Persian stuff I tried a few years back.

The Egyptian is good to go. The early Yugo is sketchy.

I've had only 1 misfire with Yugo 50s stuff, and no other issues after firing well over 1K. Even the dreaded Lot 11 has been fine for me.

Reported to be non-suitable in semi-auto 8mm firearms. Shoots hot perhaps as the Turkish is.. I have only tested/chron'd the Turkish at 3100 fps+/- vs 2700 +/- for FNM Portuguese & Romanian. IIRC.

I think this is false for several reasons. First, the Yugoslavians used this ammo in everything from Mausers, to G43s, to MGs like the M58 and MG42 with no issues.
Second, the Egyptians used almost the exact same load that was a European standard in 7.92mm, and that load is a 198 grain boat tail bullet.
When I set the gas system on my FN49, I started with the gas setting wide open, and there was almost no movement of the bolt after firing. When I finally found the sweet spot on my gas setting, it looked to be about the equivalent to a 3 or maybe 4 on a FAL. My ejections are about 6-8 feet at 2-3 o'clock with no case damage, and surprisingly low recoil.

Turk ammo on the other hand is liable to launch the brass into low earth orbit with the gas port fully exposed, and leave a deep dent in the ejected case.
Sometime this week, I'm going to pull one bullet from each, and weigh the powder, and bullet, and compare the type of powders used in each. My guess right now is they are very close.

I wouldn't call it dead either, but at the same time I have about several rifles I hesitate to take out to the range based on my low quantity of it. One of those rifles is a Hakim. I have mostly Turkish 8mm and just as some of you mentioned, Turkish is too hot in semi autos.

Speaking of Hakim, anyone have a Rashid magazine they have for sale? I honestly think I'm going to hit the Powerball before I find one of those.

That is possible. As noted I did not chrono the 1950's Yugo as I do not have any. The Yugo M75 is very good ammunition, but I have read reports of issues with the 1950's Yugo. But no personal experience.
I shoot FNM, Romanian, Egyptian & Yugo M75.., mostly in Yugo M76 rifles.

Rasheed's are nice shooters. Very of wrist grip on that rifle. Dunno where to get a mag.

8 mm Mauser is one of the most popular cartridges in the world. I went camping in northern Norway and somebody there lent me an old 8 mm Mauser for bear protection.

Yes., popular. But right now in the USA., not particularly plentiful in milsurp or in prices under 50 cents + per round.
