Not at all, about the weight of a full size AR.

M1 Garand's M14 and M1A all get me. Gotta love the American history too.

I have a soft spot for M-1 Carbines, especially my Grandfather's service weapon. (How he got it over here, I'll never know.)

Pistons, eh...well the one which comes to mind is a Springfield Armory (Devine, Texas) M1A I have. Since I was issued a M14 in USMC recruit training, and it was the first rifle I qualified with (just barely by the skin of my ass...but that is another story) the '14 holds a special place in my heart...

    Nice! Who made the carbine?

    Nice! Bayonet lug goodness.
My 2, 1960's Universal top, 1943 Q.H.M.C Carbine with Rock-Ola barrel on bottom. (Used in the Pacific in WWII.)

Grew up shooting the Universal, this one is a good 'un. I'd speculate ~15,000 rounds through it is a conservative estimate. Still shoots straight.
Back story on the Q.H.M.C.; Grandpa managed to get it stateside with him after the war, he loved it so much (I guess it saved his ass?) he blued it and refurbed the wood. Nicest blueing I've ever seen, deep silvery goodness. He was a combat engineer, then an aviation engineer, and always perfectionist.
It sat in a display/rack for years 'till he gave it to my father. Now it only comes out on the 4th of July.

I have no idea what AMAC is. The only two civilian receivers I know of offhand is Universal, and Iver Johnson.

And I think (not 100%) that AMAC was tied with Iver Johnson.
